Just Because You’re Not Fat…Doesn’t mean you’re Healthy!
And Just Because You’re Thin…Doesn’t mean you’re in shape!
My whole life…I’ve been within the “standard” healthy weight category…And ccording to some charts, I’m “underweight”
As a teenager, I wasn’t even aware of my body. I never looked in the mirror and wondered if I were “sexy”. I remember always wanting to just look “cool”.
In my 20’s I gained a little and basically ate anything I wanted. Rice, Bread, Ice cream, Pasta…anything and everything…without restriction. I didn’t realize the effects it had on my body, my mind, and my energy. My weight has never really bothered me…but I knew I didn’t look my personal best! And I knew I just didn’t feel good…
Above, I remember asking a friend to take pictures of me in the red & white bikini so I could get a “realistic view of what I looked like…and when I saw them…I thought to myself “Hmmm…I don’t look that bad”. And now…Looking back…I didn’t look that bad…but I din’t look that good either!
The “After” Pictures represent me now. There is clearly a HUGE physical difference in my body…and there is a definitely a difference in my mind :)
After highschool, I barely exercised…In fact, I rarely excercised. You would never find me in the gym and I was kinda proud of that fact.
Now, I am in my 30’s…and working out has become part of my life! And not because I’m trying to out do anyone or flash my body (I’m actually pretty modest…at least, I think I am). But what I’ve come to realize is that it’s super important be a balanced and healthy…And if you knew my schedule, you would know that it’s hard to fit anything in! But it’s a must! I’m at the gym by 7 or 7:30 every morning and at the office by 9:30. You HAVE to MAKE time for yourself!
I actually feel ridiculed or looked down upon sometimes because I care about how I look and that I take the time to pay attention to diet & exercise . I often get comments like…”You look fine”, “You’re too skinny”, What did you eat today…a grape?” Well…If you are curious…this is what I eat in a typical week…
Monday-Friday
- Breakfast - Plain Oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon (no sugar!) and a handful of organic blueberries or Egg whites with ground turkey, onions, bell pepper, and a pancake made with oat bran, nonfat greek yogurt & egg whites with sugar free syrup
- Snack - Low fat Cottage Cheese with Organic Cherry tomatoes & cracked pepper
- Lunch - Broth based soup with salad and quinoa, or homemade spaghetti sauce with zucchini instead of noodles, or boneless skinless chicken thighs cooked in BBQ Sauce with sauteed veggies (asparagus is best) NO CORN!
- Snack - More chicken
- Dinner - Either Fish, Chicken, or Steak and Sauteed Veggies (cooked with olive oil, garlic salt, soy sauce) Everything is Lightly Seasoned, NOT overcooked, & VERY LIGHT OIL! I cook my fish in 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil…
- Dessert - Almond Butter & Sugar Free Jelly, Sugar Free Popsicles, or Sugar Free/Fat Free whipped chocolate, vanilla, or coffee mousse
- I drink LOTS of Water, 1 cup of coffee a day (with Splenda), Tea (No Sugar), sometimes Diet Coke, or Crystal Light (Also good with Vodka instead of juice)
Does it look like I starve myself or under eat?
I go to the gym 3-4 times per week…and I try to do 20-40 minutes of cardio and 45 min of weights each time. I try to take a dance/yoga class on Saturdays if I get up early enough. But, I NEVER beat myself up if I eat something bad on a weekday or if I don’t make it to the gym…
The key for me is to try and be balanced….which is not always easy…and takes some work!
So, I hope this helps for those of you who are stuck. The 1st step is to GET TO THE GYM…usually after you are there…you will feel excited to get started :) And if not…just start with a 20-40 minute walk in your neighborhood in the mornings or after dinner…I promise…you will feel a BIG difference :)

My Grandmother always said…
“Opinions are like assholes…everyone has one…and everyone’s stinks…
So, with that being said…mine is just one of many :)

My boyfriend’s dog is old :(
His name is Malachi…I call him (Ma-lee-kee). I met him 10 years ago when he was just a little thing…I’ve seen him go from clumsy baby pit to a scary harmless monster. And now…he’s an old man. He has arthritis, canine diabetes…and silver whiskers…
He struggles to climb on the couch…he hates to go outside…all he wants to do is cuddle on the bed with us…
He refuses to get up to come and get his daily dog biscuit…he’d rather eat on the couch. In fact, there have been many days when I just stick the bowl right under his face on the leather sofa so he doesn’t have to get up. He likes to sleep with a pillow and a blanket…He licks me ALOT…in which case, I call him (Ma-lick-ee) and he’s best friends with my little chihuahua. I’m gonna be extra sad when he passes…I do feel like his time is near…
He’s dog. And I like him better than most people…He’s definitely more loyal than most…
So I just wanted to take the time to honor an old friend while he’s still around :)
And that’s it…
Disturbing? Cute? Both? Hmmmmm….I’m torn…
Watch That Blog Wednesday: @Hayden_Williams
20 year old Hayden Williams (Designer/Illustrator) began drawing when he was only 3 years old! He was inspired by glamour, luxury, and all things women! Many of you may have seen his designs all over Tumblr, (like the very popular Mary Kate and Ashley sketch he did of the cover of Vogue) Wherever you have seen them…the point is, you’ve seen them!
One of Haydens creations soon caught the eyes Rihanna. After the Pop Super Star saw Hayden’s sketches of her, she immediately changed her Twitter icon to his art work. Talk about a dream come true!
Hayden Williams not only sketches celebrities and what they are wearing, but he also sketches his own designs. He actually sold his very first dress in college and was the only one to do so. According to our new found love of FashionLoveBlog.com Hayden states that “if you give a woman or man the right outfit they can conquer the world”…….
